The Professionally Evil
CISSP Mentorship

10-Week Program. Twice Per Year. Pay What You Can.

Program runs every fall and spring

A Mentorship, Not Just a Cram Session

The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) is an independent security certification granted to people who pass an exam given by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2).

Secure Ideas built this CISSP mentorship program to provide the knowledge necessary to pass the CISSP certification, while working through the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) in a way that encourages retention, instead of simply short-term memorization. The goal isn’t to simply just pass the exam, it’s to build a foundation you can use in your day-to-day work long after the certificate arrives.

The program runs as a 10-week series of mentor-led discussion and review sessions, backed by real student support and communication throughout, covering all 8 domains of the ISC2 CBK.

Program Structure

The mentorship program uses multiple communication and knowledge-sharing paths to build a comprehensive learning environment focused on both passing the CISSP exam and genuinely understanding the CBK. The program includes the following:

Official Study Guide

Built around the official ISC2 study guide, so what you’re studying lines up directly with what’s covered live each week.

Weekly Live Sessions

Mentor-led discussion and review sessions each week, working through the CBK together rather than leaving you to self-study alone.

Full Session Recordings

Every live session is recorded, so a missed week or a concept worth revisiting is never out of reach.

Private Slack Community

An invite to a private Slack team for students and instructors to keep the conversation going between sessions, ask questions, and stay accountable.

Practice Exams

Practice tests are built into the program, so you walk into exam day already familiar with the format and pacing, not just the content.

Retake Anytime, No Extra Cost

We believe most students will pass on the first try, but if you want to take the program again in a future session, we give you that flexibility.

Program Structure

The mentorship program uses multiple communication and knowledge-sharing paths to build a comprehensive learning environment focused on both passing the CISSP exam and genuinely understanding the CBK. The course covers all of the domains covered in the exam, including:

Pay What You Can

This program has always run on a pay-what-you-can model, and that’s not changing. Cost should not be the reason someone can’t get real, mentor-led support toward a certification that can genuinely change the trajectory of their career. Contribute based on what fits your circumstances, and higher contributions help make the program sustainable for everyone who comes through it.

Pay What You Can, Genuinely

There’s no fixed price tag, and no judgment about where you land. Some students contribute more, some contribute less, and both are welcome. Historically, contributions at higher tiers have included extras like the official study guide, exact tiers and thresholds will be confirmed on the registration page.

Are there prerequisites?

We do not have any prerequisites for the mentorship program itself. The CISSP certification from ISC2 does have its own experience requirements, which are set by ISC2, not by Secure Ideas.

The program is built around the official ISC2 CISSP study guide. Depending on your contribution tier, the guide may be included. If it is not included, you can get a copy at any retailer.

The program runs through a combination of live video conferencing and recorded materials, so you need a laptop or desktop with a reliable internet.

You’re welcome to go through the program again in a future session at no additional cost. Most students pass the first time, but the option is always there if you need it.
